Starting in 2009, I started working with video and learning the basics of video production and post-production. Through both my classes and my work with Oregon State’s University Advancement I’ve gotten to learn a great deal about lighting, audio, and storytelling through video. Today, I use a Canon T2i DSLR camera for both video and photography using Final Cut or Adobe products.

NMC 383

For my New Media Communications field production class, we were tasked to produce and edit a video each week. Each week we focused on different aspects such as lighting, audio, and action scenes. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from that class.

University Honors College (UHC)

For my job, I worked with OSU’s University Honors College to develop a short video for their new website. I coordinated interviews with several students and the Dean of the UHC to produce an introductory video to the college.

Photography

Photography for me is a fun twist on how I approach videos. In essence I treat them the same way, but photography gives me a way to do things you normally wouldn’t be able to do with video and in a much faster way. But the same things apply: framing, rule of thirds, lighting, style, etc.
