Rally in the Square

A while back near the end of September 2010, I had the opportunity to work up in Portland to cover OSU’s Rally in the Square downtown in Pioneer Square. Only recently was I able to use the footage for something tangible, but I am very happy with the result.

For my work with OSU Web Communications, I was asked to produce a short 30 second clip summarizing the event in spirit and in premise. This was to be used for the University’s Portland Business Roundtable address in Portland that happened on January 19th, 2011. To get an idea of the type of event this was, this was where many stakeholders of the university and Portland business leaders were in attendance. I was thrilled to be able to present a piece of my work to this group.

A couple of neat facts about the video:

  • All of the audio was recorded on a small but extremely capable audio recorder known as the Zoom H1
  • There is nothing like seeing so many people come together for an event like this, there was so much orange!
  • The band is not the Oregon State marching band, rather they are a group of OSU alumni that used to be part of the band

This is the video in all it’s glory, I hope you do enjoy!

Powered by Internships – Twinterns

Greetings!

Today’s update is a new story and video piece I worked on for Oregon State (truthfully its been up for a while now). You can read the story and watch the video over at the Powered by Orange website and see it displayed as one of the main running stories on the OSU main page (for the time being).

Here are some my impressions that I had of the whole deal:

  1. The twins are really nice guys, really confident about their work and their futures. If we had more people like them in the job market, we wouldn’t have a huge unemployment problem ever!
  2. To get a good idea of how talented these guys are, check out their winning entry to Oregon State’s Campus Moviefest 2010 here. Did I mention they won?
  3. One of the cool stories they had about working at TBS was that the day that Conan O’ Brien visited TBS for his move to cable TV, Jeremy Peschka was one of the first to greet him! He found him hiding behind the door he was guarding, the life of an intern!
  4. Interviewing these two twins once again put into perspective as to how amazing people can be, despite the odds. Can you imagine the tough competition these two faced from great schools with great film programs? Little ‘ol Oregon State is doing well!

Overall I really enjoyed talking with these guys, good luck to them in their endeavors!

Bollywood Flashmob!

Through some talented folks and students (especially Neha Neelwarne) at Oregon State University, a cool flashmob happened at the Beaver Community Fair a couple months ago. I was privileged enough to be taking photos at the event, so check out the photos!

The video for the event can be seen here too, but I can’t take the credit for that!
