Final Project videos for NMC 351

For my New Media Visualization class, our final project was to demonstrate what we learned in the course through video. I produced two pieces for the class, both loosely connected. I spent a couple days shooting and editing these pieces, although I will admit I procrastinated quite a bit.

Unlike my work at University Web Communications, I was able to use copyright music. I probably used this assignment more to use certain music than anything; I think I want to direct a music video in the future (like Evan did).

Special thanks go to Alexa and Lyndsay for helping me out on this; they were too kind in helping me with this project.

Some neat facts:

  • I recorded the unzipping sound of my pants separately by standing in front of the microphone at crotch level; you can hear it in the first video in the bathroom shot.
  • Cooking the egg was incredibly cheesy, but I think me leaning forwards in the second video takes the cheese cake for sure.
  • If you look at my butt in the second video while I climb up the train, you can see that I am wearing monkey pajama pants under my jeans. So basically I’m acting like a monkey, while wearing monkey pajamas.

Powered by Internships – Twinterns

Greetings!

Today’s update is a new story and video piece I worked on for Oregon State (truthfully its been up for a while now). You can read the story and watch the video over at the Powered by Orange website and see it displayed as one of the main running stories on the OSU main page (for the time being).

Here are some my impressions that I had of the whole deal:

  1. The twins are really nice guys, really confident about their work and their futures. If we had more people like them in the job market, we wouldn’t have a huge unemployment problem ever!
  2. To get a good idea of how talented these guys are, check out their winning entry to Oregon State’s Campus Moviefest 2010 here. Did I mention they won?
  3. One of the cool stories they had about working at TBS was that the day that Conan O’ Brien visited TBS for his move to cable TV, Jeremy Peschka was one of the first to greet him! He found him hiding behind the door he was guarding, the life of an intern!
  4. Interviewing these two twins once again put into perspective as to how amazing people can be, despite the odds. Can you imagine the tough competition these two faced from great schools with great film programs? Little ‘ol Oregon State is doing well!

Overall I really enjoyed talking with these guys, good luck to them in their endeavors!

Bollywood Flashmob!

Through some talented folks and students (especially Neha Neelwarne) at Oregon State University, a cool flashmob happened at the Beaver Community Fair a couple months ago. I was privileged enough to be taking photos at the event, so check out the photos!

The video for the event can be seen here too, but I can’t take the credit for that!

5K Run, Walk and Roll with the President

New video! School is in full swing and project from work are flowing slowly enough. this video is about the 5k Run, Walk ‘n Roll with Oregon State President Ed Ray. It was a lot of fun to watch the competitive runners, they’re fast!! I think that President Ray had it right when he says that the people who came out for the first time are the real heroes of the day, not to discount anyone running the 5k in 18 minutes (never in my life, haha).

Watch out for yet another video and accompanying story too! Thanks for stopping by!
